Now even Central Government employees have accused Narendra Modi of providing undue advantage to Ambani’s Jio network. One of the employees’ federations of BSNL has decided to sit on an indefinite strike in this matter from December 3, 2018, which might even stall BSNL’s service.
As per the allegations of the employees’ federation, the Central Government is not letting BSNL to attain 4G spectrum due to some ulterior motives. This is in fact done to give Jio Infocomm undue benefit because if BSNL acquires 4G spectrum, Jio will not be able to survive as BSNL’s services will be more lucrative than the services provided by Jio and therefore Jio’s subscriber base will see a downfall. These are specific reasons cited by the employees’ federation for their decision to sit on the proposed strike.
As a matter of fact, no telecom companies are now in a position to give Jio any competition. In this context, even the industry experts believe that if BSNL can provide 4G services, then Jio will face that competition. There have been several incidences in the past when Modi have been accused of letting the Ambanis’ have undue advantage. In fact, Rahul Gandhi referred Modi as Ambani’s Chowkidar in the Rafale issue. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also criticized Modi numerous times.
But this is the first time that such an allegation has come from within the Central Government ranks in the open. As a result, Modi has again embroiled in a controversy before the ensuing elections, which has given birth to a new debate
