At a time when BJP is busy playing religious politics with the name of Lord Ram, Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister has launched a stern attack on the saffron brigade from Jambani at Jangalmohal. She said, “If they have Lord Ram, we have Ma Durga. It is Lord Ram who has worshipped Ma Durga. We don’t need to sell our religion and Goddess for votes.”
She minced no word and further went on to attack BJP by saying, “BJP actually worships Ravana and not Lord Ram. BJP’s love for Lord Ram is just an eye wash. They use the name of Lord Ram to instigate riots, spread propaganda and create division among people.” She warned BJP that attempts of polarisation and divisive politics will fail in the holy land of Bengal.
Citing West Bengal’s success of controlling Maoist insurgencies in Jangalmahal she slammed Modi and BJP’s failure in Chhattisgarh regarding Maoist attack. She said, “BJP has failed to control the problem of Maoist attacks in Chhattisgarh. Maoists from Jharkhand are also infiltrating in West Bengal and creating troubles within the state. She asked party workers and administrative staffs to be alert and visit people more often to spread awareness about development works by her Government.
Reminiscing the blood filled streets of Jangalmahal during the Left front tenure she said, “During the days of bloodshed, no body dared to come here, except me. I was stuck in Pirakata forest for three hours. But I kept my spirits high.” She asked the people about the development work she has undertaken “Tell me if there is actual development since I have assumed office. In Nayagram, people asked for a stadium, I did that! In Keshiyadi people asked for a bridge and I did that too. Despite the Central Government taking about thousand of crore rupees for old loans made by CPIM, it is extremely commendable that our Government is able to deliver the people’s aspiration.
She also added. “Previously when I used to come here people complained that they did not have enough food for sustenance. They had to eat boiled ants for survival. After we assumed power we have given rice and wheat at just Rs 2 per Kg. Every month each person is given 8 kg of rice and 3 kg of wheat, which means every month a person receives 11 kg of rice and wheat. A family of 5 receives 55 kg of rice and wheat in a month. Many families often do not need such quantity of rice and wheat, which they sell in the open market.” She assured the people about her Government’s continued commitment towards the development of tribal people. “The land of tribal’s gets grabbed in Jharkhand but not in Jhargram because we have implemented the Act for protection of Tribal Lands. “
