With the onset of the Mahalaya and the start of the Matri Pakhsha, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate Durga Pujas across the city, like every year. On Sunday night, she took to social media to greet all on the occasion of the Mahalaya.
Like the past years, the Bengal CM will inaugurate the Durga Puja of the Chetla Agrani Club, which is organised by Minister Firhad Hakim, She will also perform the ‘Chokkhu Daan” of the Durga idol. She is expected to inaugurate more than 50 Durga Pujas this year. Today, she will also launch the Jago Bangla Puja Edition from Nazrul Mancha, a tradition for many years.
The Bengal CM had started inaugurating Durga Pujas from Friday, October 3rd, when she inaugurated the Sreebhumi Sporting Club Puja, organised by MLA Sujit Bose. She will be inaugurating rest of the Pujas from today. At Suruchi Sangha, she is expected to inaugurate the theme song of the Puja, to which she is the lyricist as well as the music composer. Among the other Durga Pujas to be inaugurated by the Bengal CM are Jodhpur Park 95 Pally, Naktala Udayan Sangha, Bagbazar Sarbojonin and Kalighat Milan Sangha.
The Bengal Chief Minister has always said that festivals are for all. People from all faiths, cast and creed are part of all the festivals, including the guests coming from abroad. She has instructed the administration as well as others to be on high alert during the Puja days, so that peace is maintained.
