From her election rally at Dinhata, Mamata Banerjee ridiculed the BJP’s decision of holding a meeting at the Brigade Parade Ground by constructing ‘hangers’. She said, “After 23rd they will find themselves within those hangers only. Before challenging Trinamool in Bengal they should first look at their situation in Delhi.”
For the meeting, the Bengal Chief Minister was late by 40 minutes. She complained that all the roads and even air traffic was stalled due to the passage of Prime Minister for that period. She went on to ask if only one person in India needs so much security.
Regarding the development projects in Coochbehar she said that, nothing was previously done for the district. There were no development projects undertaken. It was only after Trinamool came to power that such development projects have been undertaken. The students have got monetary benefits to the tune of nearly 2 crores. Around 1 crore students have received cycles for transportation. 98% of the state’s population receive food grains at Rs 2. The present government has solved the enclaves issue with Bangladesh.
After that she directly criticised the Prime Minister. She said that from now she will call her-Expiry Babu. She even challenged him for an open debate. She accused the Prime Minister of lying and said that the so-called Chowkidar is doing it every day. She mentioned that they are not even ashamed of spreading so many lies everyday and that the general public will one day put them behind bars.
About the recent comments by Yogi Adityanath, she said. “While Modi’s army creates communal tension, the Jawans of Indian Army sacrifice their lives. Even after this, these people are playing politics with the lives of Jawans. Aren’t you ashamed of this? Everybody who opposes him is an enemy of the country and he is the only nationalist.” About the NRC issue she quipped, “Without achieving anything in Bengal they are saying that they will introduce NRC in the state. First do something worthwhile in Bengal. If this government comes to power again then no citizens will retain their independence. They will change the Constitution itself. There might be no more voting as well.”
